Marina Skua designed the Dryopteris top in our own vintage 20 4ply. It’s a soft, strong and lustrous yarn. Created by wool decanted from a unique blend of fibres from Shetland and Blue-faced Leicester sheep. Worsted spun, it’s perfect for next to skin projects, producing a deliciously soft, lustrous, and nicely elastic fabric with excellent stitch definition and lovely drape.
The addition of fawn Shetland fleeces to the blend creates a warm heathery natural base, the shade chosen by Marina in her original sample.
Each yarn bundle contains sufficient yarn to complete the Dryopteris top in your chosen size and colour.
The Dryopteris pattern is sold separately and can be purchased on Ravelry or directly on Marina Skua’s website.Dryopteris is a lightweight sleeveless top, knitted from the bottom up, with panels of diagonal travelling stitches up the sides that continue round the armhole to the shoulder.
Two hem ribbing sections are worked flat, then joined in the round for a split hem. The body is worked in the round, then divided for front and back, which are worked flat. The armholes are shaped, then the neckline, and the shoulders are joined with a three-needle bind-off. Stitches are picked up and worked in ribbing for the neckline and armholes.
