We create unique British wool - from sheep to skein
It’s beautifully soft to touch, knits up a dream and is a joy to wear.
We’re thrilled to celebrate British wool - come join us!
Our Yarns
We take pride in sourcing all our wool from the softest British fleeces. The fibres have been blended and spun by British mills to our unique specifications, to produce yarns that are deliciously soft to touch yet strong and lustrous. Worsted spinning produces smooth yarn that creates a nicely elastic fabric with excellent stitch definition and lovely drape. The colour inspiration for our yarn has been the awesome natural landscape of our island Woolery home on the river Thames.
We hope you’ll enjoy our wool and become part of its journey - make something to treasure!
vintage 23
-
Our latest yarn blend and, in keeping with the wool decanted aim to create the softest British yarns, vintage 23 is right up there on the softness scale. It’s deliciously next to skin soft!
vintage 21
-
vintage 21, created to complement vintage 20, was developed using fibres from an award-winning flock of cross-bred Polwarth x Romney sheep in Northumberland. This wonderful cross combines the best of both breeds to produce a distinctively fine, yet durable yarn, in a delicious rich cream base which soaks up colour. In a recent review by Knitting magazine, vintage 21 was described as delivering “…the kind of stitch definition you might expect from a Merino”
vintage 20
-
vintage 20 is a unique blend of the softest British wool fibres. White fleeces from Shetland and Bluefaced Leicester sheep, mixed with a hint of brown Shetland to create its natural fawn base - providing solid richness for our dyed colours. The Shetland fibres provide strength and softness, with the BFL added to give lustre and drape. Worsted spun to give a smooth and luxurious handle.
vintage 22

vintage 22 is our first adventure into British single breed yarn. This is pure Shetland wool - with fibres coming from 2 farms at either end of the UK - Fetlar in Shetland and Tavistock in Devon. Semi-worsted spun to a 3-ply DK weight by the Rampisham Hill Mill, it’s characterful yarn!
